Christmas Q&A: Festive Fun From Us To You

Merry Christmas everyone! We all love this time of year – getting our clients ready for Christmas parties, gossiping about the night ahead and watching everyone waltz out the door looking absolutely stunning. It truly is a magical time of the year.

All of the staff agree on one thing – that they love Christmas – but everyone celebrates it differently. So we’ve all taken part in a Christmas Q&A so you can find out how your favourite stylist celebrates and learn more about those you might not have properly met yet. And of course there are a couple of questions about party hair and New Year trends because we all want to know the professional’s tips for ways to look fabulous in the last few days of 2018 and to start 2019 in style.

Let’s start with the salon owner herself!

Q: How will you be spending Christmas?

I have a very special Christmas ahead. Myself, my husband Andy, our two sons Tyler and Huxley, my sister Mandy and her boyfriend Darryl are heading to the Caribbean for two weeks. This will be the first time we’re off to the sunshine for Xmas so we are very excited. But I am not looking forward to the packing all those presents.

Q: What’s your favourite part about Christmas?

No school run 😉 Eating lots and having a few glass of red whilst playing family board games. Spending days and days of quality time with my husband and sons and of course with extended family and friends.

Q: What’s your favourite thing to eat at Christmas?

This year it probably won’t happen, but I love cold turkey and ham with stuffing sandwiches. Oh and lots of Branston pickle. And of course cheese boards.

Q: Which celebrity do you wish you could find in the bottom of your stocking and why?

Obviously my husband is my number 1! However if I had to choose it would have to be Gerard Butler. Ever since Ps I Love you, his character always stays in my mind;)

Q: What’ your favourite Christmas film and why?

The Holiday, I love the funny and romantic side of the movie. We actually went to see it as a team at Clapham’s Winterville Backyard Cinema. Of course I played down how much I loved it as it was a choice between that and Elf….

Q: What’s your favourite Christmas song?

The Pogues – Fairy Tale Of New York. I love it, you can be sure I will singing it at the top of my lungs if it comes on in the car.

Q: We need advice! What hair style will look good all day long on Christmas Day?

So my hair routine for Xmas is always to spend very little time doing it on the day itself especially now I have kids and it is all about them. So I would have a blow-dry the day before.  I would have it done with a bit of movement not too straight. Then the next day, I’d use a big barrel wand like the babyliss pro (33cm barrel), I take large sections and tong away from the face, Because they are big it will be very natural.

Then the day after Xmas day I normally use dry shampoo and go for a textured ponytail with pieces hanging loosely. The secret, which you might remember me mentioning before, is I always sleep with my glamorous hair net to step my hair going all bed head the next day.

Q: Do you have any New Year’s Resolutions?

To continue what I do, just be happy. Keep a work-home life balance. Now I have my manager Azzurra, I want to get more involved with pushing more creativity with my team. We have some exciting prospects happening next year.

Q: What hair trend do you think will take off in 2019?

I am hoping we are seeing less and less of the crazy bright colours. Yes there will always be a market for it, however it is not the easiest to carry off. I love nothing more then bespoke cocktail hair colouring to the individual rather than following a trend. It is a bit like clothes and make up fashion, don’t follow trends –  just be your beautiful self.

Q: How will you be spending Christmas?

A: After 3 years in London, my best friend, who I’ve known since childhood, will come over from Italy. I can’t wait to show her where I live, where I get my favorite coffee etc. We’ll meet my lovely boyfriend’s family and spend Xmas together.

The mix of food, traditional Xmas games from Scotland and games from Italy will not be boring 🙂

Q: What’s your favourite part about Christmas?

A: I get really excited  buying presents. I can’t wait to see the expressions of my family, boyfriend and friends when they get to open their presents. I love the curiosity and happiness in their eyes  when they open the gift. It’s like being a child again.

Q: What’s your favourite thing to eat at Christmas?

A: That is hard! My Italian grandma starts to cook one week in advance for Xmas day – there is a huge amount of food. My favourite are the traditional soups, made with eggs, meats and a lot of parmesan. They’re incredible taste and creamy.

Q: Which celebrity do you wish you could find in the bottom of your stocking and why?

A: I feel a bit embarrassed to say this. I would like to find the most famous ginger man in music – Ed Sheehan. He would get out his guitar and start singing.:)

Q: What’ your favourite Christmas film and why?

A: Elf, it’s funny and puts me in a really happy mood perfect for Xmas:)

Q: What’s your favourite Christmas song?

A: My favourite songs is “Last Christmas “ by Wham

Q: We need advice! What hair style will look good all day long on Christmas Day?

A: Fluffy, messy braids and low chignon or romantic curls afe always an excellent solution to leave everyone speechless.

Romantic and glam, the braid’s crown is a perfect style to show off on Xmas day. It’s easier than it seems. In a short time you can create a chic hairstyle that looks like a skilled hairdresser has done it.

Q: Do you have any New Year’s Resolutions?

A: make the best of my time. Don’t miss anything that can improve myself and have time with all the people that I love

Q: What hair trend do you think will take off in 2019?

A: We move away from the fake and exaggerated colour effects to accommodate natural shades. Chocolate colour, intense hazelnut and strong and full body caramel will  be cool in 2019.

Q: How will you be spending Christmas?

A: I am spending Christmas with friends this year. My family all live abroad so it’s difficult for all of us to meet up for Christmas, but I  am excited about spending it with my good friends.

Q: What’s your favourite part about Christmas?

A: The excitement of the build up and all the decorations and lights makes it a magical time of year, even though the days are getting shorter and it starts to get colder.

Q: What’s your favourite thing to eat at Christmas?

A: The savoury extras, pigs in blankets, roast potatoes, even Brussels sprouts!

Q: Which celebrity do you wish you could find in the bottom of your stocking and why?

A: Chris Hemsworth. Ahem, enough said.

Q: What’ your favourite Christmas film and why?

A: Edward Scissorhands. I was as a huge Tim Burton fan growing up. It’s not your typical Christmas movie but I love it.

Q: What’s your favourite Christmas song?

A: It has to be Mariah and ‘All I for Christmas’. That song IS Christmas.

Q: We need advice! What hair style will look good all day long on Christmas Day?

A: We always dress up for Christmas, it’s a great event and love a bit of glamour and sparkle so get the heated rollers out and go for a glam wave, it doesn’t take too long. The heated rollers will keep the style in all day, you can even have them in if you’re cooking the Christmas dinner and take them out just before guests arrive. Effortless.

Q: Do you have any New Year’s Resolutions?

A: To put into action all the creative concepts that have been buzzing around in my head this last year, starting in January!

Q: What hair trend do you think will take off in 2019?

A: The last couple of years have been all about the midi or the long bob. Those styles will still be around but women are growing their hair more, so I think it will be more luxe rich colours on longer styles.
