How Well Do You Know The Sinead Kelly London Team?

    skl-team

We like to think that the Sinéad Kelly London salon is a friendly place, and we love chatting to clients old and new.

However, we realise that some of you may be too shy to ask us questions or that you may know some of the team and not all of us.

So to make you feel more comfortable on your next visit, we’ve asked the team some questions to get to know their personality and to get some of their hair knowledge about what styles are on trend this Autumn/ Winter 2016.

QS:  What do you like most about working at Sinéad Kelly London?

I like the fact we are encouraged as a team to stay in the loop when it comes to current fashion trends and we are prompted to push ourselves creatively. This is a huge advantage and one you don’t find in a lot of other salons as they stick to the same styles without doing anything new.

We have an awesome team of stylists and assistants who all get along well, with no cattiness, and support each other as well as having fun with what we do. You feel genuinely appreciated as a stylist in the salon and we are definitely not just churning out hairstyles like a factory of hair. The pay isn’t bad either.

QS: What excites you most about hair for A/W 16?

Hair fashion is really exciting at the moment because women are embracing shorter styles. Gone are the days of masses of extensions and big bouncy blow dries. This season is a nod to the 90s with choppier and shorter styles and ones that are far more considered with face shape and personal style.

Cut and style wise, it ranges from ‘pagan’ or ‘earth mother’ with a far more natural relaxed approach to much edgier and razor sharp styles. Short razored fringes are coming back and colours are getting bolder too, with a variety of techniques to shatter the traditional and uniform highlighting techniques of yesteryear. You can really choose which colour or style reflects your personality and not just blend into the background. Blue hair is pretty cool too.

QS: Which celebrity would you like to make over and what would you do?

Taylor Swift. Might seem an odd choice as

This might seem an odd choice as generally she has set a hair trend or two,  but for me she never seems to get it quite right. I think she’s fallen victim to hair-related Multiple Personality Disorder. From country ringlets to a mousey bob to a rather brassy blonde cropped bob, I would love to sit her down and maybe start a bit of hair therapy. I’d really hone in on a style and colour to match her personality. Colour-wise she is definitely a blonde and a far cooler tone would be way more complementary.

QS: What do you like to do when you’re not working?

I love going into town as often as possible, I’m definitely a city person.

My ideal day off would start somewhere local for a late breakfast with a friend before going up into town and going to see an exhibition. I thought the Alexander McQueen show at the V&A was incredible. Then I’d head over to the west end for drinks and something to eat before sampling a range of cocktails in a variety of bars around town.

QS: Tell us one special talent / fascinating fact about yourself?

Before going into hairdressing I studied animation at University and was a storyboard artist in Brick Lane for a short time working for a production company that created music videos and short films.

QS: What do you like most about working at Sinéad Kelly London?

What I like most about working at Sinéad Kelly London is working with such an amazing team and experiencing things I never thought I would experience; like the l’Oreal colour trophy. I’m very lucky to be part of this salon as we’re like a big family in here.

QS: What excites you most about hair for A/W 16?

The fact that women are cutting their hair short is quite exciting to me because I have short platinum blonde hair. Seeing others with similar hair is thrilling so now i don’t feel like I’m the centre of attention becauseI’m the only one with short hair!I also get to watch the stylists in the salon cut in different ways and using different techniques instead of just a one length hair cut.

QS: Which celebrity would you like to make over and what would you do?

    Miley Cyrus.

I think she should be a bronde not a platinum blonde. I’d darken her hair down a few shades and advise her to grow it longer because her hair’s way too short for her face shape.

QS: What do you like to do when you’re not working?

I love to spend my free time pretty much relaxing, eating and watching Netflix. Or occasionally meeting up with friends from high school because I never get to anymore because of work and college.

QS: Tell us one special talent/fascinating fact about yourself?

My special talent is being flexible and double jointed. I use to do gymnastics when I was younger. At around 10 years-old, I used to be able to do the splits, cartwheels, the crab and flips and I didn’t even break a bone in my body.

QS: What do you like most about working at Sinéad Kelly London?

What I like most about working in Sinéad Kelly London is that everyone has a unique set of skills to share. We have no egos and work together as a team . We are there for each other when in need.

We are always keeping up with current trends and showing clients how to do this in their everyday lifestyle. Oh yes, and we have a fabulous boss 💁🏻

QS: What excites you most about hair for A/W 16?

What excites me about the autumn and winter collection of 2016 is that many celebrities now are embarrassing the short hair cut (the lob). It’s simplicity is the beauty. I love how many people are experimenting with bolder colours now as the brighter the better.

QS: Which celebrity would you like to make over and what would you do?

I would love to makeover Kate, The Duchess of Cambridge., as much as I love her with long hair I feel that  making he hair shorter and adding a bit of balayage will give it a bit

As much as I love her with long hair, I feel that  making her hair shorter and adding a bit of balayage will give it a bit of interest and pizzazz.

QS: What do you like to do when you’re not working?

When I’m not working I like to socialise with my friends and family. I also love to shop looking at the different trends for different seasons I can shop till I drop!

QS: Tell us one special talent/fascinating fact about yourself?

An interesting fact  was before I studied hairdressing, I wanted to become a dancer. I auditioned for the Brits School but unfortunately I didn’t get in. Then I knew that my career was hairdressing and I have no regrets making that decision.

QS: What do you like most about working at Sinéad Kelly London?

I like working at Sinéad Kelly London because I love people. We have lovely clients and a wonderful team. We are a very busy salon and it always has a certain buzz about the place.

As staff we have a very good support network around us and we are sent on courses to continually improve our hairdressing skills. So, as you can imagine, there is never a dull moment.

I look forward to coming into work every day because there is always an exciting hair challenage to try and solve or just lovely people to be around! So either way I’m proud to say I work in Sinéad Kelly London.

QS:  What excites you most about hair for A/W 16?

Colour is exciting me this Autumn Winter 2016. Beige tones, dusty rose and milk chocolate browns will be in this season. Soft updos and textured hair styles.

QS: Which celebrity would you like to make over and what would you do?

I would love to make over Lindsay Lohan. She is absolutely stunning but that long hair of hers needs to be chopped into a long bob slanted down at the sides with invisible layering. The done but undone effortless look. With her colour i would make her a butterscotch dark blonde with some nice money pieces around the front to contour her lovely face!!

QS: What do you like to do when you’re not working?

When I am not working I love cooking, shopping and taking my doggy for long summer eve walks along the river. I’m also enjoying planning a wedding so a lot of my time is spent making exciting desisions!

QS: Tell us one special talent / fascinating fact about yourself?

My special talent has got to be skiing as I started skiing at 3 years old. I was lucky enough to be able to go on family holidays and have had quite a lot of practise!

We all hope to meet you in person at the salon very soon. Don’t be shy – come and say hello!

Introducing A New Baby And A New Consultation Service

    hux-blog1

We have some happy news to share – Sinéad has given birth to a gorgeous baby boy. You can see the adorable new arrival, named Huxley, in the photo above.

And as we know everyone likes looking at baby photos, here’s another picture of Huxley with his older brother, Tyler. Aren’t they adorable?

    hux3

So what does that mean for the Sinéad Kelly London salon? It’s all positive news, don’t worry! Sinéad will now be available to advise you on hair makeovers and suggest new styles over the phone or by email from 1 September. If you need a change and don’t know quite what that is or if you’re unsure about a look and want an honest opinion about whether or not it will suit you, then you can book in with the boss herself.

You’ll get one-on-one time to pick her brains about hair. It’s not every day that you get access to the owner of a salon and at other salons you have to pay through the nose for it, but there is no charge for this service.

Are you intrigued? Let’s have a closer look at what the phone / email consultation  service is and the benefits to using it:

    WHAT IS IT?

Simply email a recent photo to Sinéad, and she  will spend time researching styles that will suit you and consider cut and colour.

She will take into consideration your face shape, current colour and how it will adapt to your lifestyle. You can do it from the comfort of your home at a time to suit you and sit back and relax while Sinéad does all the work – all you have to do is pick your favourite look

Even better news is that it won’t cost you anything.  Tell the salon what you need in terms of cut and colour, pay a 30% deposit for that appointment and they’ll put you in touch with Sinéad. She’ll advise you which one of her team is best suited to make your vision come to life.

    HOW TO BOOK?

Phone the salon on 020 8392 2444 or email info@sineadkellylondon.com and tell them what you’d like to do with your hair.

    BENEFITS?

    1)  Time – Most people spend time thinking about what they’re going to have done before booking a hair cut. You might flick through a few magazines, you might scroll through the side bar of Mail Online, and you might Google the sort of style that you like. But where does it end? You could spend hours searching for hair styles and find it difficult to decide which one to go for. Your decision has serious consequences as you have to walk around with it for weeks, so it isn’t something to be taken lightly.

However, Sinéad will do all the work for you, leaving you time to tackle the other things on your To Do list.

    2) Confidence – When you’re making a decision, you need advice from the professionals and Sinéad is an expert when it comes to hair. She has been in the hairdressing industry for over 19 years, winning many prestigious awards along the way.

In 2016, the salon won the L’Oreal colour Trophy London heats and the overall competition, after reaching the finals in previous years. You can rest assured that Sinéad will give you advice drawn from years of award winning work.

Also, celebrities like Holly Willoughby trust Sinéad with their hair and their hair is part of their livelihood as you can’t have bad hair on TV.  Sinead knows how to work under pressure and deliver results.

    3) Comfort – You  don’t need to plough through lots of magazines or stress out over Google. The only thing you need to do is send Sinéad one photo. You can do it from the comfort of your own home, sit back and pour yourself a drink while Sinead does the work and then sends you some suitable styles or talks you through it on the phone. How easy is that?

And just in case you need any more evidence that Sinéad knows her stuff when it comes to hair, just check out this photo of how she left the hospital after giving birth:

    skl-car

She achieved this look by braiding her hair just before she went into hospital, following the same technique we showed you in our Festival Hair blog post. After a couple of days in braids, she shook it out to look every inch the yummy mummy when she took her baby home. Beautiful!
